POWER of SAKURAJIMA ERUPTION
This is the shrine gate of the Kurokami Shrine.
In 1941, Mr. Sakurajima erupted enormously.
As a result, Sakura Island was connected to Osumi Peninsura.
As many as 687 houses were all buried by ash.
KUROKAMI SHRINE
This shrine gate was 3 meters high before the eruption
But most part of it was buried by ash as a result of the eruption.
The gate was kept buried so that future people will know the great severity of the eruption of Sakurajima.

0.5 hour from Sakurajima Port by a car.
There is a free parking lot for cars.
This shrine is located near KUROKAMI Junior High School.
