Is a standard driver’s license sufficient?
A standard driver’s license (automatic transmission only) is sufficient.
Toll fees for highways and ferries
The fees are the same as for regular passenger cars. For ferries, the rate is for vehicles less than 5 meters. You can also board the Sakurajima Ferry and the Kamoike-Tairyo Ferry.
Where should we stay?
Campgrounds with electrical hookups and RV parks are comfortable and recommended.
Overnight stays in highway rest areas or service areas are not allowed. Short naps are acceptable.
Does the camper van have a toilet?
The camper van does have a toilet, but we ask that it not be used.
The vehicle seems large; is it easy to drive?
The camper van may seem large up close, but it actually fits within standard parking sizes. It also comes with a backup camera, making parking安心.
Even I, as a woman, can easily drive it with the same feeling as a regular car.＾＾
However, please be cautious of the vehicle’s height (295 cm).
What should we prepare on the day of departure?
Please arrive at the agreed location at least 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.
On the day of departure, there will be administrative procedures and equipment explanations.
You will need your driver’s license (we will take a copy).
What about insurance? I’m worried about accidents.
The rental vehicle is covered by optional vehicle insurance. The coverage details are as follows:
- Personal injury coverage: Unlimited
- Property damage coverage (per accident): Unlimited (deductible of 100,000 yen)
- Vehicle damage coverage (per accident): Vehicle market value (deductible of 200,000 yen)
- Personal injury coverage (per person): 30 million yen
