Drive in Mountain!
We decided to go to Cafe Kuwanomi to enjoy delicious lunch at relaxing atmosphere in the mountain.
Before departure, we called up the cafe to make booking for lunch.
Staff was very polite and we were touched by her hospitality.
Please search the cafe by Google Map to reach the cafe. Car navigation doesn’t show the place.
1 hour drive from Kagoshima City via route 226 took us to the cafe.
The road was very small from route 226.
It is very exciting to drive the small road!
We passed Family Hot Spa Nonoka 家Family Hot Spa Nonoka on our way to cafe kuwanomi.
Maybe it is the good idea to drop by the spa after having lunch or cafe at Cafe Kuwanomi.
Please turn to left at the following corner. The shop is 70m away from the corner.
You can find the following signboard of Cafe Nonoka on your way from route 226 to Cafe Nonoka.

Kind staff welcomed us. She was very polite.
Unique object is hanging from the ceiling.
Big cocoon is hanging from the ceiling.
We saw the mulberry field from the cafe.
You can see many mulberry tries from March from September.

Hand-made silk groceries are sold in the cafe.
Lunch is depicted in the frame on the wall. It must be very delicious!
4 machine are placed in the cafe for the experience of making silk cloth.
Booking is needed to make the cloth.
Colorful silk are hanging on the wall.
A couple enjoys making silk drink coaster.
Experience menu are as follows. Staff told that they sometimes welcome foreign visitors and teach them how to make silk products by using foreign language dictionaries.

Staff took us to the seat with sofa so that our small daughter also could enjoy lunch.
Water and plate for kids were delivered.
Paper bags for chopsticks are very cute. Our daughter was very delighted.

This mulberry tea has many good health effects such as decreasing fat, improving diabetes, decreasing blood pressure.
Japanese soup is delicious!

The boiled pork is very soft and nice!
Our daughter loves this pumpkin salad.
Kagoshima’s famous product Satsuma-Age or fried fish paste.
This is the fried sweet potato which is the famous product of Kagoshima.

If you order (Matsu) Okaiko Gozen Set, you can select your drink from ume juice, orange juice or coffee.
The cafe starts cafe time from 14:00. Drink menu is as follows.

Nature around Cafe
We walked around the cafe after lunch.
It had been forests, but shop staff turned this area into mulberry field.
This is the mulberry tree.
The house raises silk worm and is open for public in September.
My Comment
I was touched by the kind and polite attitude of cafe staff.
She called out daughter by name several time and our daughter looks delighted.
The cafe runs only in Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, but you can join experience activitiy on week day.
Sadly we did not have enough time to join experience activity to make silk products, but decided to do it next time we come to the cafe.
You need booking for lunch but you don’t for cafe.
