My wife and I visited Kirishima Hot Spring in December by train and bus for our marriage ceremony.
Since Kirishima is located at high mountains, it was so cold at that time.
By contrast however we found hot spring is very warm and pleasant.

- It takes about 1 hours from Kagoshima Airport by car or bus.
- It takes about 1.5 hours from Kagoshima Chuo Station by car or bus.
Free parking lot is available.
Steaming Street
Steams come out from many places of the street and the sulfer smell is very strong.
We heard that rich people heal their wounds or diseases at such hot spring town as Kirishima.
I wish if we could stay at this place for some weeks.
The trouble is that we don’t have nough time and money, though.
We stayed at Kirishima Kanko Hote. The view from the room of the hotel is fantastic.
Steaming Sume
Local people use this steam to cook foods. The steaming holes are called “Sume”.
We enjoyed having steamed foods!
Those steamed foods include sweet potatoes, corns, eggs and dumplings. They are only 100-200 yen. They have a special nice flavor of hot springs.
Foot Bath
You can enjoy foot bath for 100 yen.
It is very pleasant.
