There are many active volcanoes in Japan.
I introduce two of those volcanoes in Kagoshima.
Sakurajima
This is very active volcano. It erupts almost every day.
The height is 1,117m above sea level. It is prohibited to climb the mountain for safety.
I was surprised to know that my aunt has climbed the mountain for excursion of primary school (about 50 years ago).
Kaimondake
This volcano is also categorized as an active volcano.
But it has been silent for over 1,000 years.
The heigh is 924 m (193 m lower than Sakurajima).
You can go up to the top of the mountain in 2.5 hours.
In the past, you could see the crater of the mountain on your way to the top, but the crater is now buried by timbers thrown away by climbers.
