The population of Kagoshima City is 600,000. Kagoshima City Hall stands at the center of the city. Actually there is a historical site of Seinan Civil War at the back of the city hall.
Kagoshima City Hall
This is the Kagoshima City Hall. The building is built in 1937.
There is a monument behind the city hall. The site was used to be the military base of Meiji government which was led by Mr. Yamagata Aritomo at the time of Seinan Civil War in 1877.
On the other hand, Mr. Saigo Takamori and his students created their military base on Mt. Shiroyama.

Minato-odori street is beautifully lighted up at the time of Christmas season.
Also, the street is filled with people at the time of Kagoshima Summer Night Fireworks.

Take Kagoshima City View Bus （Shiroyama/Iso Course, Water Front Course, Night View Course）and get off at “Shiyakusho-mae”
